Dozierende: Peer Tutor:in des Schreibzentrums
Termin: Fr, 24.04.2026, 10-17 Uhr
Ort: IG 1.418
Maximale Teilnehmer:innen: 20

Long-term writing projects like advanced term papers and theses often challenge our existing approaches to the writing process, confounding us as strategies that previously worked like a charm no longer help. This workshop addresses this common experience, introducing participants to a research process appropriate for these long-term, complex writing projects. We'll discuss narrowing a topic, developing a research question, finding and managing research literature, effective note-taking practices, and using sources to develop your project and arguments. Throughout the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work on their own writing projects.
Note: “The Writer's Process for Advanced Students (EN)" would be a helpful follow-up to this workshop. It builds on this course's approach to long-term research projects but focuses on managing a successful writing process.
Participants should have experience writing research-based academic texts. This workshop was designed with advanced students (e.g., students in the final stages of their Bachelor studies, MA students, and thesis-writers) in mind.
Are there ways we can make it easier for you to participate in our workshops (e.g., by taking regular short breaks, using a large font size in our presentations, sending you the presentations with image descriptions in advance, etc.)? Please contact us as early as possible at schreibzentrum@uni-frankfurt.de, stating the workshop you would like to attend, and we will try to find a solution to your request!
Please use the registration form for all courses and workshops. The registration deadline is seven days before the workshop begins. IMPORTANT: If you register for one of our workshops at short notice, you will not automatically receive access to the OLAT course, where the location and other important information are communicated and all materials are uploaded. In this case, please be sure to contact us at schreibzentrum@uni-frankfurt.de so that we can send you the link and password for the OLAT course.
The registration form for our courses and workshops is released on April 1 for the summer semester and on October 1 for the winter semester.

Even when we have experience writing in academic contexts, long-term writing projects (like an advanced term paper or a thesis) present us with unique challenges. Simply put, a bachelor's thesis, for example, is different from a first- or second-year term paper, and it requires a different and more complex approach to the writing process.
This workshop prepares students for the distinct challenges of a long-term writing project in English. We'll discuss a host of practical strategies for an advanced writing process; we'll cover, for instance, how to create a writing schedule and manage one's time, how to develop one's ideas and arguments in writing, how to write with sources and avoid plagiarism, how to revise one's writing, and how to deal with the challenges of writing in a foreign language. Over the course of the workshop, participants will apply these strategies to their own writing projects.
Note: It is not a requirement, but it would be helpful to attend “The Research Process for Advanced Students (EN)" before attending this workshop.

Do you have AD(H)D symptoms and want to improve your writing skills, or are you simply looking for a place to exchange ideas? Then you are very welcome to join our open writing group! Together, we want to find out what specific challenges writing with AD(H)D symptoms entails – and how to find ways to work with them instead of against them. Our group offers a space for sharing experiences, developing individual strategies and trying things out together. Our group is about
We are two peer tutors at the Writing Centre who are trained in writing didactics and counselling and have dealt with the topic of AD(H)D, but do not have any therapeutic or AD(H)D-specific training. Our goal is to create a supportive, open atmosphere where everyone is welcome, no matter how much or how little they want to contribute. We look forward to meeting you and hearing your perspective – whether you want to come regularly or just drop in for a visit.
